Private Voice and Piano Lesson Information.docx

Schedule:

Schedule will follow the school schedule for holidays and events.  School half-days will be rescheduled to a day earlier in the week.

Cost:  $20 per 1/2 hour session.  Discounts available for siblings.

The cost of repertoire (music books and sheet music) will depend upon what the student needs in terms of repertoire and theory.  I will always do my best to keep the prices as low as possible and provide you with a receipt of the purchase.  You may reimburse at the following lesson for music purchased.

Many parents find it convenient to pay by cash, check, or Paypal each lesson.  Otherwise, Miss Geigley will provide a statement at the end of the month and balance must be paid before the next lesson will take place.  Please make checks payable to MarJanita.

Vocal lessons are recorded, and students are given a cd of the lesson to replay during the week.

Parents and students are also given login information for MyMusicStaff.com where invoices, calendar lessons and events, and other lesson information can be found.  We give hand copies to each student as well.

Lessons are tailored to a student's individual learning styles, modes, and preferences so that he/she can learn well and enjoy the process!

Requirements:

  • Students need to bring a water bottle, pencil, notebook, and 3-ring binder with them to lessons.
  • Students need to be prompt to their lessons.
  • Daily practice is necessary for the full benefit of voice and piano lessons.  It is important that each minute of practice be used as precious time with complete thought given to it.  Problem areas within exercises and songs need to be thoroughly analyzed and corrected at home.
  • A student should always warm up the voice carefully with exercises, vocalises, and humming.  Voice practice should be done in a standing posture for best breath and body support.  Piano practice should be done with the best of posture and fingering/wrist position.
  • Students need to have basic reading skills and be responsible for doing their daily practices.
  • Students are required to participate in at least one piano recital per year.
  • Nails must be trimmed.
  • Piano students must have a metronome and working, tuned piano.

Music lessons take commitment and practice, but those who invest the time and energy will reap outstanding musical rewards!
